Shepherd's equipment - ferula Lesser Poland

Kategoria: Culture

Apotropeic signs were cut out on it, often coinciding with the IHS monogram, including unexpected cross. The handle of the ferrule was often carved in the shape of a cat's head, i.e. an animal that is considered a natural enemy of frogs and amphibians, in the form of which witches liked to appear in the hall. Ferule was decorated with carvings in the form of a rosette, geometric ornaments or floral motifs. Ferula is used on huts to this day. From Latin, ferula is a rod, a rod.
