Mała and Wielka Raca

Kategoria: Nature

A series of glades stretching under the peaks of Wielka (1236 m above sea level) and Mała Racza, at an altitude of 1035-1190 m above sea level. Mention of Wielka Raczy already appears in a document from 1417. The name of the summit also appears in the 17th and 18th century documents as "Great Rayca". In this way, the border peak between the Żywiec estate of Komorowski and the areas belonging to Hungarian "lords" from Žilina was determined. In the mid-16th century, the first Wallachian shepherds grazed their herds in the hall. Shortly afterwards, bloody battles for pastoral land took place between shepherds from the estates of Budatina and Streczna ( Budatinske and Strečnianske panstvo ). In the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, robbers hid in the forests of Veľká Rača, in which raids were organized with the participation of local people robbed by them.
