The Kysuce Protected Landscape Area is located in the northwestern part of Slovakia, near the Malá Fatra National Park. It consists of two separated parts - western Jawornicka and eastern Beskid. Over half of the territory is covered by forests, in particular mixed forests. The area has a rich network of springs and streams, which is why there are marsh meadows and peat bogs on which species of protected and endangered plants grow. So far, 205 vertebrate species have been identified, including wolf, bear and lynx. Among the birds we can find the hairy owl and the three-toed woodpecker.
