Sheep for wool is usually sheared twice a year - in summer and winter. Sheep wool is used in many ways. Małopolska housewives make mainly socks and sweaters. They make them by hand knitting, using yarn in natural shades: white, gray, brown, black. There may be smooth sweaters, kept entirely in one weave, but they can also be with patterns. Sometimes they are one-colored but may have different geometric patterns, e.g. stars, parzenice, etc.
Sheep wool has also become an interesting material for ethno-designers and artists who make interesting objects from wool fibers and felt. Mime is made of felt. jewelry elements (necklaces, beads and earrings, bracelets) and bags in shades of gray with a variety of applications.
The precursor in creating bags was the artist Natalia Klęsk in Lesser Poland, which in 2010 made her debut at the Festival of Ethnode Design in Krakow. The felt bags she designed quickly won the hearts of women, finding many followers. Nowadays, you can buy them all over Lesser Poland.
