The scenic glades, spreading on the Beskidy peaks or hidden among the forest backwoods, is a testimony to the presence of Wołochs, which we can admire to this day. They are proof of the taming of the Carpathian wilderness - the determination of people who came from afar along with their herds, in search of new areas to live. It was here that, grubbing up dense forests, they founded their homes. The gradual resignation from the nomadic way of life, while developing a pastoral economy, gave rise to the phenomenon known today as transhumance - seasonal, constant chasing herds from summer mountain pastures to winter pastures in the valleys.

Mountain halls are great observation points from which you can admire everything around you - often in 360 ° panoramas. It is from this perspective that the river valleys are clearly seen along which human settlements formed centuries ago. From the glades, you can also see the surrounding peaks bearing Wallachian names. An interesting fact are shepherds' huts located on the mountain slopes, which are an example of traditional wooden architecture.

Despite the fact that the trail of Wallachians, who arrived in Poland at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, has already disappeared, their presence in the southern part of our country is still alive. It manifests itself among others in traditional sheep grazing, cultivated by modern shepherds, holidays bringing pastoral customs and availability of sheep products, whose recipe for manufacturing has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. Places presenting the heritage of Wallachian culture in Lesser Poland are also museum exhibitions, in an interesting way approximating what the life of highlanders once looked like.

It is worth following the old Wołochs routes, and wandering - discover their secrets.
