As stated on the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture: "The use of acid water to prepare shepherd's cakes is characteristic only for the abovementioned and is a feature that distinguishes them from other similar pies very popular in the region. " The tradition of baking these pies dates back to the 1930s, although it cannot be ruled out that they were baked earlier, but there is no information on this in sources and scientific studies. The towns famous for baking pastries are: Młodów, Głębokie, Piwniczna, Kokuszki, and Łomnica. In 2006, pancakes were included in the list of regional products. Pancakes are baked by private hosts and the Country Housewife Club. In the region inhabited by the Nadpopradzkie (Black) Highlanders, you can taste them at folklore events, weddings, and sometimes also
in restaurants serving regional dishes. Pancakes are served with milk, cheese, honey, lard, bacon etc.
