The layer accumulating at the top is fatter (so-called hurdas / gourds) and was considered the tastiest and most nutritious. What was left after removing the hurdy spoon was used for shepherd dog food. At the turn of the century, it was considered a great cure for tuberculosis. Apparently, Zakopane doctors wrote to sick patients as medicine. In the Rabč spa, the owner of the spa made sure that Żytyca was available to patients - it was sold in the factory
pharmacy. In the Szczawnicki spa, Żętyka was mixed with "Józefina" mineral water. In 2005, she was entered into the list of regional products by the Ministry of Agriculture.
