Redyk in Brenna

It ended in September, most often for St. Michał, when cattle returned to the valleys. Redyk is a name closer to the Żywiec region or better known in the Podhale region, in the Silesian Beskids sheep exit to the halls was called "the mischievous hunter", while returning to the bottom "divorce".

Organized reykki brought the inhabitants and tourists closer to the peasant traditions of the Beskid highlanders. At the beginning of the 20th century sheep grazing in the Beskids meadows did not surprise anyone, they were a natural part of our Western Carpathians. Their number, however, decreased radically, so that few herds remained near houses, farms, no-one was laid, sheep were grazed in the halls.

However, the sheep returned to our halls, mainly due to the persistence of local hosts who are also organizers of shepherd events.

In the long June weekend, shepherd meetings were held in Brenna, on June 17 at Skalka at your Kawików, and on June 18 in Goat Farm. The mountains are picturesque at any time of the year and in every weather, and the weather is completely indifferent to sheep. Guests were entertained by two highlander bands, there was a demonstration of cheese-making and tasting, as well as a knitting show, everyone could also try regional cuisine, there were mutton and cheese, or shepherd's products.

On Sunday, at your Marchlewicz family in Kozia Zagroda, with favorable weather, we spent the second day of the reykjavik. As part of the event, a demonstration of sheep shearing and shearing, wool processing - carding, spinning, knitting, making ropes, and cheese making took place. The "Mała Brenna" Children's Regional Band performed, as well as Izabela Szabla and Damian Nowak, playing the violin and raids.
