SZCZYRK – Redyk Beskidzki

What is the difference between oscypek and redykołków? When does the court start and what rituals accompany it? How were sheep once sheared and what is made of their fleece? This could be learned by visiting Szczyrk on July 9.


The event took place on St. James Square, i.e. in the very center of the city. The main elements were musical performances and competitions for children as well as the opportunity to observe traditional techniques related to cultural grazing. Participants could actively participate in activities organized as part of the project. The event was enriched with a traditional demonstration of cheese production combined with a lecture on grazing and the specifics of sheep breeding in the Beskids, as well as workshops conducted by Beskids craftsmen - cheese production methods, pastoral traditions and tools formerly used for shearing sheep and what wool was used for were presented.
