Carpathian Redyk on the Bieszczady pastures
On Saturday, April 27 this year at. 12.30 in " Pod Caryńska" in Ustrzyki Górne and its immediate vicinity will start "Redyk Karpacki - On the shepherd's trail".
Redyk in shepherd culture was seen as the biggest village festival. Leading the sheep was preceded by magical measures that were to protect them from evil and enchantment. To this end, bonfires were made and sheep were led through the fire. Later, sheep were led around a small herringbone or spruce driven into the ground - the so-called Mojka. This is how the traditional sheep rush in Ustrzyki Górne will look like on the last weekend of April, combined with workshops, concerts and tasting of local cheese.
At. 12.30 it will be possible to take part in the solemn mass at the parish church in Ustrzyki Górne. Then at 14.00 traditional sheep mixing will begin. They will be accompanied by demonstrations of traditional archery performed by Archers from Sanok, presentations of shepherd instruments organized by Józek Sowa, while sheep wool spinning will be demonstrated by Vasylina Romanchych. At the same time, a local products fair and cheese tasting will take place, as well as herbal and musical workshops (Wszystko Gra - Redykowa Kapela Bogdan Bracha). A fair of craftsmen and artists will create, among others wicker products by Tadeusz Międlar, painted shingles by Dorota Zielińska, planed in wood by Waldemar Kija and an exhibition of painted Oromir Voytiv churches. Concerting folk bands are Carpathia, Oreada, Werchowyńcy, Trąbici, Kapela z Case, and at 19.30 star of the evening - St. Orchestra Nicholas.
